History

BMC was established in 1974. The company was named after the six original shareholders, Rex Murray, Normand Blanchette, Gilles Murray, Réal Bernard, Edgar Côté and M. Morissette. BMC set up its first building in Longueuil.

In 1976, Normand Blanchette and Rex Murray became sole shareholders of BMC and the company moved to St-Mathieu de Beloeil. At the time, this building was just a small barn, where we sold rubber bumpers, fenders and recycled hoods.

In 1978, BMC hired its first employee: an auto body repairman. After school and on weekends, this young man repaired bumpers with his father. This dedicated worker was of course Stéphane Murray, who successfully passed the exam in 1983 and was hired as a permanent employee.

In 1987, BMC expanded for the second time in order to store replacement parts. This expansion required the hiring of staff. Among the employees who were hired during this period and are still with us today are: Sylvain Lavallée, Chantal Blanchette, and Stéphane and Michel Murray.

In 1992, the two BMC shareholders sold their shares to Stéphane Murray (telephone clerk at the time) and Sylvain Lavallée (sales representative).

In 1993, the two ambitious owners purchased "Pièces de Carrosserie Inauto" in order to specialize in importing new replacement auto body parts directly from Taiwan.

In 1996, BMC had about 35 employees and 1,000 regular clients. To better serve its customers, BMC bought a 32,000 ft² warehouse in Beloeil on August 1, 1996 and set up all of its parts and services at this single location. The “little barn" (the rubber bumper warehouse, the call centre and the parts distribution centre) was also moved.

At that time, BMC was already selling parts throughout Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. It distributed parts through its partner distributors in Saguenay Lac St-Jean and the Magdalen Islands.

In 1999, BMC celebrated its 25th anniversary. There were two very important developments that year:

  1. After purchasing a sandblasting machine, we were able to apply a new finish to recycled rubber bumpers, which was a hit with our customers;
  2. On April 12, 1999, BMC was the first company in Quebec to earn the new "Client Attitude" certification. While other companies certified for ISO standards for their expertise, BMC earned a certification for its people skills!

Several projects were advanced in 2000:

  • May: A pricing system by automated fax available 24/7.
  • September: A partnership was formed to buy “Phares Universel R.C." in Quebec city.
  • December: Always on the leading edge of IT, all BMC transactions from then on could be carried out using electronic commerce. BMC purchased Carrus Technologies e-commerce platform, which allows customers to make online transactions.

In October 2005, BMC needed more space for its current warehouse, so it moved once again, to 2095 De l'Industrie St., St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil. The new location has an area of 1,250,000 ft², including a 68,000 ft² warehouse and a 42,000 ft² production plant.

To better serve customers in the Québec City area, in November 2009, BMC built a 10,000 ft² warehouse in Saint-Apollinaire. From then on, "p.m." deliveries for Québec City clients were possible! BMC now uses a wide variety of e-commerce platforms. Our clients can order parts using AOS by Progi-Pac, CarrPièces en ligne, the ABS Mitchell workshop management system, or simply on our website: www.bmcltee.ca

In December of the same year, BMC became the first company in the auto body sector to register as an accredited supplier on secure online banking websites. BMC's clients can now make payments online and save time and money. By doing so, BMC is helping create a greener world. In 2009, BMC officially became a "national" company. With its enhanced buying power and ability to serve clients throughout Canada, BMC signed major agreements with various chains and insurance companies.

At the beginning of 2011, BMC launched its new bilingual website: same address -- efficient, user-friendly new look.

In the summer of 2011, our headlight recycling plant, Phare Universel RC, will be set up in Saint-Apollinaire at our recycled and replacement parts warehouse.

At BMC, we always ensure the top-notch quality of our products and service. We are committed to training our staff in state-of-the-art technologies. Through various activities during the year, we keep our team highly motivated. BMC's success is due to its highly skilled staff!
